If you ask most Idahoans what they love about Idaho it usually starts with the rugged beauty, wide open spaces and endless recreational opportunities.

There is something for everyone from skiing, biking, hiking, hunting, fishing, boating, camping with plenty of space to think and be free. Actually, 61.5% of Idaho is federal land ranking Idaho 6th in the nation for federal land ownership with some of the largest unspoiled natural areas in the country. There is a unique history carved out by the Lewis and Clark exhibition entering Idaho at the Lemhi Pass in 1805 followed by a wild ride down the “River of No Return” looking for a passage to the Pacific Ocean. Along the way small miracles happened that helped the exhibition from meeting local Native Americans where they were looking to trade for horses and as fate would have it meeting Chief Cameahwait and the Shoshones who turned out to be Sacajawea’s brother. The rest is history with Idaho becoming our 43 state on July 3rd, 1890.
